Design career uncertainty, any advice?

Post Body

Hey y’all, I graduated with a design degree in 2020 and have stumbled my way through two work from home jobs. The first was contact graphic design template work. It was low stress, and very siloed, but I always had someone to reach out to to ask questions. I got to really be creative sometimes and usually only had a weekly checkin.

This new job is at a larger company and more web design oriented. I switch because of better pay/benefits, and I thought web design would be a good change of pace and long term career. However, if I’m honest I’ve been struggling with it. My manager isn’t experienced in Figma so I have no one to turn to for help other than YouTube/Google/etc. I understand I need to bring a designers knowledge, but I’ve also feel I’m expected to solve problems, that I regret to admit, are sometimes above my current skill level. The number of team meetings I’m attending also continues to increase to the point I’m struggling to find time in the day to get to the actual work. I also just don’t really care to socialize that much.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to find full-time remote work that is similar to the first example?
