Post Body

I'm 38 and make $80k in my Graphic Designer job and live in Los Angeles.

I freelanced for a long time, had a variety of jobs, but have been at my current employer for 3 years.

I started at $70k and got one raise. I feel like I'm underpaid, and my co-designer just quit to leave for a higher paying job that paid $125k, so I'm kinda the only designer now. They hired a freelancer who is no doubt making more than me to cover some stuff. My work load hasn't increased, oddly we're just outputting less now.

I feel like I should be making at least $100k. I asked my head of opps for that about a year ago and got denied and haven't asked for a raise since. When I started I worked really hard, but for the past year, I definitely have worked less hard, so there's no real points where I can ask for a raise, other than my time put in.

It's in-house design, so no clients. It's pretty easy, and getting boring, but I'm also coasting and know my boss well. I do what I can, and don't really go above and beyond, but it's fine. Everyone I work with likes me.

I'm in a band and make music at night, so I'm not dying to work harder or make my job my life. Coasting is good.

I know if I got a new job with a higher title, I might have to work harder, and I don't really want to do that.

But I can't shake the feeling that I could be making more or learning more, or I should just quit and pursue music.

I have $100k in the bank.
