Is grad school worth it to someone who cares more about things outside of their career than their job?

Hello everyone,

I know this post might seem counter productive/intuitive or made more out of a “depressed” way to view the world but what I’m about to say is legitimate.

I’m about to graduate soon with an undergrad in biology. Okay GPA of 3.2 and some work experience. In all honesty I don’t like biology? Why am I in it? When you are told all your life that stem is the only path and that every other degree is useless and that if you don’t go to college you will be kicked out of the house; you gotta pick something.

In college I have overall had a pretty bad experience, constantly working, learning that hard work isn’t exactly everything such as having a really hard-arse proffeser or whatever happens to come your way, and tbh I would rather not do grad school if I had too.

You are probably wondering then, why is this guy asking to go to grad school. Mainly due to a couple of things.

I want a job that’s flexible and will pay the bills, and I want to be able to emigrate to the nords some day whether a master degree will do that idk. I just want to be content with my life but in all honesty I hate biology with a passion, and the only masters degree I would consider is something in buisness or law so I can make money.

If you are wondering if I should do a field more Baer on my interest, I have plenty but they don’t usually make any money It’s just hard when these are more hobbies and skills that aren’t that usefull in the work world. So how do you find a job that actually curates to you jnterest and puts a roof over your head?

But I’m not completely here to rant. I’m actually curious what y’all’s think. Do you need to get a masters degree to actually find a decent job? With how much I care about education is it really worth it?How are easy is it to switch fields after undergraduate graduation? Does it help my chance for immigration? How would I switch to buisness from Bio? These are more my questions and if you are just going to comment on how depressing my outlook is I don’t want to hear it. I would say genuine advice.
