I’m curious if/how having a felony conviction would affect my chance at admission to a graduate program in neuroscience. I assume they’ll run a background check and I would tell them up front.
Is it even worth applying?
I have the educational and employment background, and transcripts, which support my admission and would feel confident if it weren’t for the felony conviction received 18 months ago. I’m eligible for expungement in 2027 but don’t want to wait that long to go back to school.
I have a BS in psychology. 3.7 gpa and 4.0 in my major studies. Made deans list each term my senior year taking 20 credit semesters. A year of undergrad research in a cognitive psych lab. Another year of chemistry and human anatomy and physiology courses all 4.0. On paper I’m a good applicant if it weren’t for the felony.
