Formation and Early Years (2000)
- Founders: Dark Blaze and White Dragon established The Flames, the first Fire/Flame guild on Graal, possibly the first to use "The" in its name. Members included Neo Gold, Kjeldoran, Darth Maul, Shab, and Consolamentum. The guild's headquarters were initially in Hippie Ville.
- Guild Code: Before official registration, members used nicknames with the format:
Nickname ~~~ The Flames ~~~ ***Rank***
.
Official Recognition (July 13, 2000)
- Guild Tag Official: On July 13, 2000, The Flames became an official GraalOnline guild. They relocated their headquarters to the Kain&Apple Mansion, marking a period of growth and camaraderie. Many memorable moments from this time were captured in screenshots.
Migration to Playerworlds (Late 2000 - Early 2001)
- Lostworld (Late September - December 9, 2000): Frustrated with Main Server lag and the arrogance of other players, the guild moved to the player-managed server Lostworld. They quickly established a strong presence and built a guildhouse.
- Celestia (Mid-December 2000 - Early 2001): Member Vincent Valentine, with FTP access, uploaded the guildhouse to Celestia. The guild thrived until Celestia was shut down in early 2001.
Guild Control Panel Issues (Early 2001 - March 2001)
- GuildCP Shutdown: The Guild Control Panel was shut down for security reasons, preventing member management. This led to a decline in activity until its restoration in March.
Search for a New Home (March 2001 - April 2001)
- Scattered Members: After the shutdown of Celestia and Coasta de Agua (CDA), the guild struggled to find a new home. Members dispersed to various servers including Graal2001, Main, Bravo Online, and Mithica.
Enigma and Dino Valley (April 2001 - Mid-2001)
- Old Enigma (April 20 - May 17, 2001): The Flames found a temporary home on Old Enigma, with Cyanide's support as Head GM. Recruitment was successful until the server went Pay-to-Play.
- Dino Valley (May 17 - June 4, 2001): After Enigma's transition to Pay-to-Play, the guild moved to Dino Valley. Despite facing internal conflict and external hostility, the guild continued to thrive until it eventually disbanded due to other factors, including being globally banned for becoming one of the most powerful and overpopulated guilds on Graal.
Return to Enigma (June 4, 2001 - Mid-2001)
- New Enigma: Warcaptain reopened Enigma as a free server on June 4, 2001. Many Flames members returned, though New Enigma did not match the quality of the original.
GuildCP Problems and Decline (Mid-2001 - Early 2002)
- GuildCP Issues: Persistent problems with the GuildCP hindered recruitment, causing a decline in membership and activity.
- Local Guild on Enigma (August 2001 - March 2002): The guild operated primarily on Enigma due to the GuildCP's limitations, maintaining some presence on Classic and 2001 servers.
Dissolution (March 3, 2002)
- End of The Flames: The guild officially ended its operations, concluding a storied history in Graal Online.
Revival of The Flames (February 12, 2019)
In a remarkable turn of events, Rice2k revived The Flames on February 12, 2019 after archiving old Graal history and researching his old guild. This revival brought back great memories, and Rice2k decided to reunite old members and make the guild thrive once again. He successfully contacted Consolamentum, who played a crucial role in bringing the guild back together. Consolamentum's leadership has helped keep the guild united and thriving since its revival.
Guild Activities and Screenshots
The Flames were heavily involved in player-killing (PK) adventures and guild wars, often clashing with other guilds such as the Holy Crusaders and Darkstar. Their website features numerous screenshots from these battles, showcasing their strategic maneuvers and victories.
Reboot and Modern Era
The Flames guild has been rebooted and now primarily exists within the game Brawlers Tavern. Despite transitioning to a new platform, the guild continues to uphold its core values and remains a close-knit community. The current iteration organizes events and encourages members to contribute in various ways, from sparring to creating artwork.
Additional Server Histories
Lostworld (September - December 2000)
Lostworld was one of the early playerworlds on Graal Online, known for its dedicated player base and creative content. The Flames established a strong presence here before moving on due to server issues and the eventual shutdown of Lostworld.
Celestia (December 2000 - Early 2001)
Celestia was another prominent server where The Flames thrived. Vincent Valentine’s FTP access allowed them to set up a guildhouse, making it a favored home until Celestia’s closure in early 2001.
Enigma (April 2001 - Mid-2001)
Enigma went through phases of being a free server and then transitioning to Pay-to-Play. The guild initially found a supportive environment with Cyanide as Head GM but faced challenges during the Pay-to-Play transition. Enigma reopened as a free server in June 2001, which brought some stability back to The Flames.
Dino Valley (May - June 2001)
After Enigma’s transition to Pay-to-Play, The Flames moved to Dino Valley, a server originally designed for the Yoshi Tribe guild. Dino Valley was less enjoyable for The Flames due to constant conflicts and hostility from other players and staff, leading to dissatisfaction and eventual departure. Despite these challenges, the guild continued to be a powerful and influential presence on Graal until its disbandment due to global bans.
