Post Body

Currently on my second flare up, in the typical toe joint. First flare up was 2 years ago. This one been going for about 1.5-2 weeks. This sucks. Hobbling around, walking on the side of my foot to get around. I would take NSAIDS but once I started getting sleepless nights. I went to see my general practioner, got in the same day. She was great. I read through this subreddit and asked her about colchicine and allopurinol. She gave me steroids and colchisine. We decided to wait until I got my uric acid results, still waiting, before allo script.

In my research I'm finding hypo and hyperthyroidism can effect uric acid production and flushing out. Well I had my thyroid removed and am on meds for that. As a side note, I'm no doctor but for some of you with high uric acid, maybe consider having thyroid levels checked if you haven't. Hypo and hyperthyroidism often goes unnoticed and even doesn't cause issues for many people. Just my 2 cents.

So far I'm feeling like this affliction is a curse. The cure could be loose weight. Im definitely over weight. But I feel it's the exercise that's been my trigger. I've already stopped drinking beer 3 weeks ago, before my flare up started, cut out 90% of fast food 2-3 months ago. Maybe 1-2 pops a month.I regularly drink tons and tons of water 100oz a day easy. A lot of that is even green tea. So go figure that this starts when I'm being healthy.

Ill be bike riding now that weather is better. I have been lifting weights for 2 months now but nothing crazy. I have only gotten myself sweating a handful of time. Medium light weight, more aerobic lifting than muscle building. But I've been so out of shape I've built a lot of muscle in those 2 months, I was just that out of shape. Haven't lost any considerable weight unfortunately. Which may be due to my thyroid issues.

Crazy how this goes on for weeks. I've cut a lot of meat out of my diet. Eating healthy choice microwave meals. Even had a few meatless days. Cut 500-1500 calories a day out of my diet. Stopped alcohol cold turkey. Still fighting myself with 1-2 sweets a day. Stopped fast food. Exercise and lots of fruit and trying to get more veggies. Yet no noticeable weight loss. Drinking 16oz of tart cherry juice a day. Vitamin C and multivitamins. Tons and tons of water. Green tea and ginger tea. Plus turmeric tea is ordered and on the way. And after work today, im getting apple cider vinegar.

This just sucks. Im on day 3 with the prednisone and colchicine and my flare up has come back a bit, manageable but not bad. Its has to be because I exercised last night. But I don't want to stop exercising. Again, I barely get myself sweating. Just hopeing it will eventually start to resolve itself. My BMI is up 36 so thats the biggest thing I've got to fix.

Update- blood tests came back. UA level at 9.3. Other things seems to be ok where they're at. I left a message asking for an Allo script.
