How long after an attack can you start Allo?

As per the title, how long should I wait after an attack to start Allopurinol? I actually picked up the prescription this weekend and was going to start today but go figure I end up getting an attack and am on my indomethacin now.
Once the pain is gone, how long should I wait before I start taking the allo?
