I had my first ever gout flare up 4 years ago.
I thought I was past it. I thought my diet and lifestyle changes had taken me out if the danger zone.
Then my daughter was born and I got a new job and instead of grocery shopping, people were bringing us food. But the food was a small dinner for each of us, and a giant cake or platter of cookies or tub of ice cream.
I ate opportunistically and woke up with a pain in my toe.
Damn it.
So now I'm loaded up on cherry juice, celery seed extract, potassium citrate, vegetables and whole grains and trying to find a new doctor who does weekend calls. All while trying to be present for my daughter and make sure my wife doesn't think she is in this alone right now.
I hate this. So much.
