As per title first flare up last weekend which is just about clearing now. Mostly been drinking more water, ibuprofen & icing my foot. Honestly I was surprised, diet is generally very good & I am very active (perhaps over active!) I was an avid runner 2yrs ago, now cycle 3-5 times a week with the odd run.
Alcohol is my downfall & clearly played a part, admittedly I drank too much over the Xmas Period including beer which is a clear red flag! Gout also runs in my family. Father has it & is on meds, grandfather had it too.
I’d like to think I can manage this through diet but we’ll see, I’m also reading up that intense exercise can increase uric acid levels!? Seriously considering quitting running altogether, given the pressure on joints :( Ive had issues with tendons as well so beginning to wonder if it’s all connected somehow …
Blood test in a few weeks to check UA levels & will go from there, although I’m fully expecting them to be lower anyway after the festive period
