I was diagnosed with gout about 13 years ago. I have had flairs and know how to deal with...whether its meds or tart cherry juice but this most recent gout attack has been something i have ever experienced in my life. For the last three years, I went off meds and just dieted and exercises. The past year i been experiencing more frequent gout attacks. My hand is currently experiencing a gout attack moving from my ring finger and spread all throughout my hand...making basically useless. I went back to my rheumatologist and she told me diet and exercise alone cannot help lower your UA and you need to hop back on meds. I have been on methylprednisolone for about 10 days without any signs of the gout attack going away, its actually getting worse. Anyone have any suggestions or or home remedies to feel any kind of relief? Thanks in advance.
Update : Still extremely swollen. Went to see my doctor today. Gave me another steroid shot and put me on another steroid thats supposed to be more potent than prednisone. After the gout flair is gone then i can start krystexxa.
