Hello. I just got my new hero 5 and fielded it for the first day.

I do have some questions, however.

Current settings: 2.7k

60FPS

Medium

I went to upload my day one of my videos, only to find that there were over 300 pictures taken while it was recording.

Closely examining the pictures, it seems to be stills of each frame taken while the camera was recording.

What's going on?

I didn't record in time lapse video (not knowingly anyway).

Camera was turn on from the off position by holding the shutter button for 3 seconds, but it would also turn on by pressing it for 1 second (quick mode on).

edit: Typing this out made me figure it out... I tested it by holding it for 3 seconds. Turns out thats the picture taking mode.
Pressing it once goes straight to recording. Doh!
