Your track record with taking the GoPro underwater (no dive case)
Post Body

Hey all,

I've been using GoPros for years, typically with a dive housing since I take it diving. Just got the Hero11 Black, which is *waterproof* up to 10m according to the website. So I took it with me to Hawaii and used it in the pools and while snorkeling and cliff jumping. I used the Floaty stick and an additional Floaty housing since my last one (Hero7 Black) was proven not to actually float with just the stick.

It worked fine on the cliff jumps and in the pool. When I took it snorkeling, however, it didn't work - seems water got into the housing. Naturally since GoPro doesn't cover water damage (on their "waterproof cameras") I need to pay the $99 fee to replace it.

So once I get the new one, I feel like I'm scared to use it in water without the dive housing. Anyone else have a Hero11 Black and use it underwater routinely? Any tips for making sure the door stays waterproof?

Thanks!

EDIT: Yes I have the dive housing. But, as you know, sound is muffled inside of it, so if I'm not taking it on a dive I'd prefer to have full audio.
