my photos keep disappearing in albums but it still says they're in there

so on my phone one of my albums is basically empty but it still says 106 images with only 3 showing, yet when I got on my laptop it shows all of the pictures in the album, and over deleted the app multiple times and reinstalled it only, going back to normal for maybe a couple of hours then messing up again. has this happened to anyone else and know why it's happening?
