I'm looking for a more definitive list of devices that behave exactly like a Google Home Speaker or Hub, yet are non-Google. I suspect there's confusion between that and devices that simply have Google Assistant.
For example, the Lenovo smart clocks show as a device you can cast audio to. They can be added to a speaker group along with other Google speakers. Heck, they even stream your Nest Hello doorbell video feed when someone rings the doorbell.
What I'm looking for now is a waterproof or water resistant speaker that can be added to the group, and can be controlled independently of my phone. Like.. I know there are a lot of high quality water resistant bluetooth speakers that are Google Assistant compatible. But I'm looking for one that can be added to the speaker group and is otherwise treated like a Google Home device.
One thing that sucks is there doesn't seem to be any solid lingo/labels around these two distinctions, when it comes to product descriptions. So I'm pinging the community!
BTW: I have four Lenovo smart clocks, and I've got to say I'm mega impressed. Been using them for a year, across a two-unit property. I had no idea that the Nest Hello doorbell integration was updated at some point, which brings a great story: someone in the other unit had ordered some late-night pizza, I was asleep when the order came, the delivery person went to my door instead of the other unit's door and rang the doorbell. The Nest Hello video feed immediately popped up on my alarm clock screen, I could see it was a delivery guy. It also presented a talk-back button, so I pressed it and just mumbled "other door". And then I could hear him say "sorry" and then I went back to sleep. ALL THIS instead of putting on clothes, trudging downstairs, opening the door only to have to point at the other door. I was mega impressed.
And I love that the speakers can be added to the overall speaker group. Maaaaan.
