I was gifted a new a pair of Rancourt & Co Brighton Boots in dark brown for Christmas - which were bought during the sale last month.
I'm quite happy and think they're a beautiful boot. I'm very familiar with Rancourt and have multiple pairs of shoes/boots from them. This is the first non-handsewn/moc lasted pair of shoes I have from them though. These are also offered in a lighter brown (they call amber), but I thought the dark brown would be more versatile.
A few specs:
- Burnished calfskin leather
- Blake welt stitch
- 115 last
- Fully lined with tan cowhide
You'll see they're a 9 1/2B which is the same size I take in the handsewn/moc lasts. As stated on their website, the 115 last does fit slightly longer (and slightly narrower, which is good for my very narrow foot) than the handsewn lasts of the same size. I wouldn't have wanted to have sized down though. In terms of the last, I'd say they fit very similarly to the Allen Edmonds Strand.
I wanted a versatile boot that could be worn casually but also be used in a dressy/smart casual setting too - and I think these will fit that role nicely. I like the Vibram mini lug outsole for versatility in the outdoor elements.
I've only worn them around the carpeted house so far, but they're already starting to feel quite comfortable. The leather did have some squeakiness to it, so I gave them a light coat of a boot wax. That took care of the squeaking and gave them a little nourishment I think. Since they don't stock a 9 1/2B, these were (presumably) fresh out of their factory and took right around 4 weeks to ship.
My first post here, so let me know if I should include other information!
