The MC of my world, and focus of a planned story, is Galen Silverhand. By the time of the main story he has replaced his right arm with a magitech prosthetic made of silver and wood.

Originally I chose Silverhand because of the arm. This was fine so long as the only story he appears in is after he got the arm, however now I'm planning a series of short stories set before this.

This issue is what should his last name be before the arm? I can see 3 options:

1) no family name

2) different name

3) his family name was already Silverhand and he chose to use silver for the hand because of that.

His father is a somewhat successful shipwright, making skyships, but was born a member of a nomadic tribe. So it could easily go with any option.
