Hello all!
Another myth-themed script this time around! This story has always resonated with me, and I haven’t written something with a darker tone in a while, so here we go! As with most myths, there are slight differences between the various accounts of this story, so I just picked the version that I thought would lend itself best to a script. Hope you enjoy!
Synopsis: The speaker here is Apollo – the god of many things, but most importantly for this myth, the god of prophecy. He attempts to seduce Cassandra (our listener), a princess of Troy. She rebuffs his seduction, so he proposes a deal: sleep with him, and in return, he will grant her the gift of foresight. Cassandra agrees to his terms, and she receives his gift. However, she breaks her promise to Apollo – she refuses to sleep with him. Angry with her refusal and deception, he takes her by force. Moreover, Apollo decides to alter her gift. Though she will still be prophetic, nobody will ever believe any of her warnings regarding future events. As the story goes, she foresees the fall of Troy through a certain famous wooden horse, but is helpless to prevent Troy’s destruction.
As always, feel free to improv as much or as little as you wish. I would love to hear your interpretation. And, if you do fill this, then please let me know!
You can find the script here.
