[META] I made a simple site to search GWA

Edit 2: User u/fermaw has made a much more sophisticated GWA search (it doesn't rely on the Reddit search at all, thank goodness) that anyone who finds my page useful will want to check out. Their original post is here and the search here: https://gwasi.com.

I've added a light/dark mode selector to the top of my page as well as a subreddit selector for GWA, GWAudible, PTA, GWASapphic, GWAGay, and GWAScript Guild. The flair settings only match Gone Wild Audio, however, so be aware if you change the subreddit.

I am looking into the reported issues on iOS devices. Thanks again for all the feedback and kind words.

Edit: Big thanks to everyone who tried it out!

It doesn't seem to work properly when the web page launches the mobile app -- the app can't use the URL it generates, I think. So note that functionality is broken for now. I will look into it next year. 😉

If you are using the search in the browser and it doesn't work the way you expect, please note the browser type (Safari, Chrome, etc.) and version number and I'll look into it.

Original post:

Hello all, and happy new year!

GWA has a fantastic culture of tagging. Seriously, I've seen professional media storage setups and the metadata we have puts pretty much all of the to shame.

It can be hard to take advantage of that due to the weirdness of reddit search, however. So I've made a simple web page that directs you to a reddit search based on your input. There are no trackers, ads, or anything like that. I've been using it personally for a bit, but I thought I'd share it as a resource. If this kind of thing isn't allowed here, my apologies.

Here's the site:

I hope it's fairly intuitive, but keep reading to learn how it works.

Use double quotes (" ") for multi-word terms you want ("rough caress"). I have mixed success with this, but it seems to work better than I thought. You also don't need to use commas to separate anything. For all fields, case doesn't matter, as far as I can tell.

And another thing, reddit hides NSFW content for users who are logged out of reddit, so you'll have to be logged in to see your results.

OK, let's go over each field.

Included Tags -- Posts must have all the words you enter here in the title to appear.

Excluded Tags -- Posts cannot have any of the words you enter here appear in the post title. Good for limits like rape or gender tags you don't want like F4M.

Posters -- Will only show posts made by one of the posters you enter.

Exclude Flair -- Any boxes you check will be excluded from the search. I did it this way because many (most?) posts don't have flair, so limiting it to specific flair would hide all of those.

Sort by -- Select one of new, hot, top, relevant.

Time range -- Select one of all time, last year, last month, last week, last day, last hour.

Hit the search button to open your search in a new tab!

The page will remember your entries in included tags, excluded tags, and posters, meaning if you open the page in the same browser whatever you searched for last will persist. This makes it easy to change a few things without retyping everything.

If you run into any problems, have any questions, or have suggestions, don't hesitate to DM me.

Now let's enjoy 2021!
