"I'm sorry, mister. I'm afraid we weren't being entirely honest with you. You see, we knew your daughter wouldn't be home tonight. Amy has a reputation for being a bit possessive about her daddy. Now, you just sit back, relax, and... watch us move."

The doorbell rings, and you open your front door to see your daughter's three best friends from dance class, asking to pick her up for their road trip. After informing them that they showed up a day early, you offer to let them stay the night rather than waste time driving all the way back home. As a thank-you, they decide to put on a special show just for you...

Dramatis personae

Cheryl Davidson- The "it" girl

Cheryl takes charge most often, making her the unofficial leader of the trio. Given how charismatic and easy-going she is, others often follow her lead without even realizing that they are doing so. Despite her role as an almost prototypical "cheerleader" type, Cheryl has never been one to play the usual social power games at school, and, due to her friendly and convivial nature, she makes friends easily with anyone from jocks to nerds to anyone who deviates from "the norm". She does, however, have a tendency to push her fellow dancers through relentless teasing and competitiveness. Music of choice: Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Nina Simone.

Zoë Beckett - The "punky" one

Normally, Zoë would have hated dance lessons, or so she thought, but after trying them once "ironically" on a dare, she got hooked. Despite her sometimes blunt and aloof attitude, Zoë has a big heart, and, loath as she is to admit it, a major submissive streak. Best friends with Amy and Alexa. Has a tendency to squabble with Cheryl, although the friction between them rarely leads to any truly serious confrontations. Music of choice: Ramones, The Dead Kennedys, The Misfits, Bad Brains, Anthrax.

Alexa Miller - The bookworm

Alexa originally got pressured by her parents into taking dance lessons to help her "socialize more", and she found out that not only did she love it, but that she had a natural gift for it. Before she joined up, Alexa was your typical, introverted bookworm: Nerdy, shy, and a complete wallflower. Though she still struggles with extreme shyness, she revels in the thrill of having people watch her body in motion, as well as the admiration and lust that inevitably accompanies such displays. Music of choice: Rimsky-Korsakov, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Depeche Mode.
