You made it. It's a very important sunset. Perhaps the most important one of our lives.
How many years has it been that we've tried to catch the setting sun? At least ten, if not more. I guess our being so young when this tradition started excuses us from the silly idea behind it.
Somehow, we got the idea that if we ran at the setting sun on this, the last day of our Summer, that we could run through it and into a land of perpetual Summer. Our Never-Never Land, where we could be kids forever.
Now, we're about to begin college. Even by our liberal reckoning, we'd be considered adults then. So this is our very last chance to catch the sun while we're still kids. If we succeed, we don't have to grow up.
