Damn it. I still can’t believe he jumped off of the cliff and into the ocean. He killed himself rather than let himself be killed by me.

It was a good hunt, too. The best I’ve had so far. And the costliest. He killed my trusty manservant, Ivan. He also managed to injure me. It will be a while before my shoulder is fully healed.

Well, he’s dead now, but unfortunately not at my hand. So, there’s nothing to be done about it but to get a good night’s sleep. Then I can arrange for a replacement for Ivan. Hopefully I can get them properly trained in how I like things before the next poor sod washes up on my shore. It’s always handy to have a manservant around when I’m hunting my prey.

So, I’ll just pour myself a glass of cognac, like so, and get myself ready for… for…

Or should I pour a second glass now, for it seems I’m not alone? I’m a good enough hunter to know when I’m being watched. Come out from behind the curtain. You no doubt know that I’m unarmed, so there’s no use in hiding.

Ah, I knew my senses did not fail me. I see that you somehow survived your plunge into the ocean. You must have swum around the island while I made the trek through the forest back here.

I guess congratulations are in order. It’s three days into the hunt, and the clock just struck midnight. It seems the draw I was bemoaning earlier is actually a defeat for me, and a victory for you. Well, I’m a woman of my word. You are free to go. I’ll pilot you personally in my sloop to the mainland and drop you off near a town. I do trust you’ll be a gentleman, and not tell anyone about my little game here?

I posted this the other day, but A03 was being DDoSed at the time, so few if any people could view it. I decided to delete the post rather than people struggle to view the actual script. Now that things have settled down I am reposting it.

I've read The Most Dangerous Game a few times. It was actually required in at least one English class I took, plus I just stumbled upon it on my own at a few points. And it's a theme that has inspired a lot of other movies, tv shows, and stories since then. It's a classic story, and I guess one that has stuck with me over the years.

Tagged [rape] because the femme fatale's consent could be called into question or considered to be given under duress. In my mind though she's partially bargaining for her life, but mostly just intrigued by the one man to get the best of her, and therefore worthy of her. Also, she's found a new game to play...
