Itâs been roughly four days since youâve downloaded MalO Ver1.0.0 and things continue to get stranger and stranger. The whole thing was weird from the start. You were browsing the app store when you stumbled upon MalO. The description said that said you would âNever settle for those awkward feelings of being alone again.â It was free and only 10mb and it was on the app store so it couldnât be a virus you thought. Though upon downloading the app you couldnât find it on your home screen. You went back to the app store only to find that the app was gone.
You quickly forgot about Malo but after three hours passed you received a text message. A single image of your college building and if that wasnât creepy enough a figure was peeking out from behind the building almost at the edge of the picture. She was barely identifiable, but you could see a feminine figure and she was wearing some kind of mask.
These messages continued to come periodically. You eventually notice a pattern. So far an image of every place you go frequently was sent to you and each time a location was repeated the figure was easier and easier to identify. It was like whoever was in the pictures was working up the courage to come to you.
After two days had passed the images began to prioritize places you had just visited and you were in them. You considered calling the police, but something stopped you. They wouldnât believe you and something was not normal about what was happening. You figured that one or two pictures could be taken of you without you noticing but as the images continued to pile up you began to wonder why you never saw someone take the picture?
The following day you received an image. It was of your house, of you, specifically of the back of your head. The figure from the previous images was there. At this point you switched off your phoneâs notifications and began to search your house, but not only did you find nothing there wasnât a sign that anyone had broken in. The doors were locked, the windows were secure, and everything was in place.
Now, on the fourth day, you had woken up to that figure in the corner of your eye. You desperately search for something, anything until you spot her in the reflection of your window. If you can see her in reflection maybe you can keep track of her. So, you rush to the bathroom and sure enough you can see her clear as day standing right next to you in the mirror.
Here you were, at wits end, panicked, and stressed staring at your stalker in the mirror of your bathroom. No one would believe you; they would think you were insane. But then something unexpected happens, she reaches towards you. You go to turn your head but the figure in the mirror shakes hers. You go still and out of the corner of your eye you can see a fluffy, clawed hand moving towards your arm.
She touches it and you can feel her warmth. You forget that she didnât want you to turn your head and you do. The hand vanished before you could look at it, but your arm reacts to the sudden change from warm to room temperature as if someone had pulled their arm away. You turn back towards the mirror and despite the mask, which you now see is her head, not being human you can sense that sheâs sad.
You leave the bathroom, defeated. The day passes and you go to bed but as you close your eyes you feel something getting in bed behind you. You decide to keep your eyes closed. Youâre pulled back into the body of the figure you had seen before. You suddenly open your eyes and the feeling fades.
You then get an idea. Quickly rummaging through your nightstand, you find something to cover your eyes with. You come up with nothing, but you do find a pair of ear plugs. If blocking out sight allowed her to interact with you, could blocking out your hearing let her speak to you?
You put the earplugs in and notice that they work much better than normal. You call out to the figure, to MalO and for a second you donât hear anything but just as youâre about to give up a strange, feminine voice echoes in your mind.
âCan you hear me, darling? I need you to cover your eyes.â
