I am a student at Michigan State University, and we have two excellent on-campus courses, at Forest Akers. The East Course is designed to be challenging but competitive for all ages, and the West Course is championship-level...Obviously I played the East.
I've played two rounds at a no-name course in Wisconsin, and I played the Back 9 at the East Course ~a month ago. I played the Front 9 this time, and had tons of fun. I'm using some cheap "garage sale clubs" that I found online, with an added putter and an added 5W that I found cheap (I hit woods better, mechanically). It's a 36/36 course, and I used the front tee (68.0/113). Between the two 9 rounds, I had a combined score of 129 (65/64), and 5 lost balls (2/3), but a ton of fun! I hit 1 fairway/GIR (par 3 hole 18), and had one 6-over hole (after penalties) on a Par 5, but I'm optimistic. My serious case of the push is getting slightly better, and I only had a dozen truly bad strokes on the day! It seemed like the putting gods were smiling on me yesterday, because I only had two 3-putts, and one of those was a rimmed 2-putter.
I'll be out there again...Soon TM
