New golfer looking for advice on first round

I just got a set of used clubs from my brother and have been practicing my swing while dreaming of playing my first round. I know it’ll take years of practice to really get it all down, but don’t want to wait forever to play my first round. Any advice on when to hit the course for the first time? Any advice for while I’m there, etiquette, etc?
