Overlap between golf and skiing

Post Body
I just posted this as a lower level reply in r/skiing, and I figured it could use some general discussion here. What are some characteristics that you think golf and skiing have in common? Here’s what I came up with:
- Both are healthy outdoor activities that are not cheap, but still within the means of people who prioritize it.
- Both are practiced in areas that are modified from nature, but still retain enough nature to feel natural.
- Both are activities that you can start doing very young and continue into your old age.
- You can be as good or as shitty as you are, and still have fun.
- Both can become addictive and consume your thoughts all week long until you can go do them.
- Both have a subculture of alcohol and substance use that is not necessary to the sport, but widely practiced and tolerated even by those who don’t indulge.
What do you guys say?
