Post Body

Hi guys ! Amateur golfer here, i play less than 10 games a year (golf is only from may to mid october in my country)

6"4, 185lbs, slim but i do a lot of weight training. (not trying to be a douchebag on a golf sub, but i guess those information can help you identify my type of downswing.

I hate drivers, woods and hybrids lol, and where i live course are ALL in the forest (north of canada). a small slice and you are in the wood.

but i am a long irons hitter. My 4 irons (longest iron i have) average 250 (more with a really good shot with down roll lol). Pitching wedge (lowest iron excluding my 54, 56 and 60) : 150 with max swing

I'd much rather it a straight 250 in the fairway than a 300 with my driver 1 times out of 4 and losing so many balls in a game. My last 2-3 games was only with irons, i left my driver and my hybrid in my car (friends were laughing at my empty bag lol), but dam its crazy how i rarely lose balls now.

so i sold my driver last week and bought a Wilson staff driving iron (18 degrees). The shaft was not steel but it is a stiff one so i told myslef ''all good''. Dam i was wrong lol, i feel like my downswing is too strong for this light shaft. I didnt even know until yesterday that there were shaft weights LOL. I only knew about shaft stiffness.. (very amateur aint it haha)

So the iron 2 is on a KBS HYBRID 80mm shaft. I just read shafts go up to 130mm. Should i go to a golf shop and buy a steel 130mm shaft. My irons are wilson staff D200 and i love them because they feel strong and heavy, i wish they would be even heavier.

So conclusion, i hit my 4 iron longer than this driving iron. You will all tell me that i need to practice with it but even so, i just hate the feeling. I can't put the force i want to apply on my swing with this shaft. (BTW i never filmed myself before, i realise how many thing i do wrong haha. My irons go so far behing before i come back and my right elbow goes so far from my body. But at the same time i guess this is what helps me get long distances..

I thought with a really heavy driving irons i could hit a 260-270 on good shots. But this is not gonna happen lol i was stupid. In the video i blasted one like that (ball was so fast i lost it after 0,5 sec lol, but i can do this shot 1 time outta 10, the shaft and club feel very unstable during my swing)

What do you propose me if i want to keep playing only irons. ?

(i know the good answer is : slow down your swing, ajust it, learn how to play with drivers and woods, etc. but this is not what i'm asking haha)

I hope this thread does not sounds douchy, if so i dont mean it at all !

:) THANKS
