How was your weekend round?
Post Body

Todayā€™s round started off like any typical Sunday golf. Playing with buddies, the weather was in the 60ā€™s, overcast with very little wind. We played at a country club pace, waited on no one. And no one waited on us.

Bogey, par, triple, bogey. Pretty typical double digit handicapper golf. Hit a solid drive on 5, a GIR and easy two put gave me a bit of confidence going into the par 3 6th.

It was playing 166 yards, with a middle white pin location. The hole is slightly elevated and todays pin is guarded by the bunker. I arrived at the tee box first while two of the guys stopped to wet their towels at the bathroom. I didnā€™t over think it, a nice easy 5 iron. Aimed just left of the pin location, this green typically feeds left to right. Hit a solid shot, slight cut into the center of the green. My buddy immediately says, ā€œthat was pure! Nice shot.ā€

As we ride up to the whole, the green is empty. Itā€™s the first time it occurred to me that the ball could have gone in the hole. Iā€™m thinking, could I have gone longā€¦ but Iā€™m certain I didnā€™t hit my 5 that far. I grab my wedge and putter from my bag. Immediately, I head towards the hole. As I approach, I can see the far side of the hole is emptyā€¦ but as I get closer, the ball is in the hole. HOLE IN ONE. 20 years golfing, I finally got one. Hole in fucking one.

I followed it up with a tap in par, double bogey and a birdie on 9. Got in a good groove on the back 9. Three pars in a row. But then I just couldnā€™t keep it going. Finished with a few bogeys and a double. Missed a few easy puts too.

Scored well today with a net -3. 30 puts. And a hole in one.
