Hi! First off - Puppy Tax

I’ve always been interested in having a dog certified to be a therapy dog to visit hospitals, nursing homes, etc... I’d really like to even more, in honor of my dad. He recently passed away from cancer. He loved goldens, we had a few growing up. During his treatments we’d watch videos and photos of goldens. I think it would make him happy to know we (my dog and I) we’re doing it.

My pup Lee is only 11 weeks and I’ve been making a big effort to get her socialized to a variety new environments, sounds, smells, situations, dogs, etc. She especially loves meeting new people (of course). She’s got a sweet and laid back temperament, so I’m thinking she’d be good at it. She’s been easy to train so far and picks up things quick.

I know it’d be a few years of work, but I’m wondering if anyone has gone through the process? How was your experience? Besides socialization and basic training, what else could I be doing now? She just started obedience class.
