Post Body

I picked up a go kart to make into a paintball tank. The previous owner rolled it, didn't disclose it. Had it powdercoated. And spliced every single wire on the wiring harness into unusable condition. I had to cut the whole harness short because everything from that point on was all spliced by removing the jacket, wrapping the core wire with another wire, and electrical taping it over. For real.

I have so many questions. Actually I have ALL of the questions.

First, do I need the massive wiring harness if I just want it to go forward? Or can I just simplify everything with an ignition and throttle cable?

Second, does anyone have any recommendations on sourcing parts?

I'm planning on hitting the junk yard for some seats and a muffler off of a small Honda civic or Toyota corrolla and welding a lot to get them to fit. I know I need am intake. Which I was also going to grab some generic bent tube and cone filter to weld together for it.

Problem is, I can look at a Predator engine and know what part is what, and where wiring goes into and what it goes to. But with this motor, I have no idea what all of the extra wiring is for.

So do I try to source the original wire harness and rebuild the entire motor to OEM? Or can I just throw an ignition switch on the battery and be good to go? It turns over. It runs. But that's using the battery to the starter directly.

I got this at a decent price. I just need to put the love into it.
