Hi! My name is Shawna and I'm currently 29 years old. After a lot of very unfortunate set-backs over the course of a decade I have finally had the opportunity to pursue my dream of attending college. I am currently pursuing my BSN while still working almost full-time as a inpatient hospital pharmacy technician. Due to this I only took 12 credit hours over the spring semester to better balance school and work. I decided to take courses over the summer to stay on track academically. 

Being a first generation college student and not having any siblings to look to either I didn't realize the challenges of paying for these summer courses! Unfortunately FAFSA has not been as much help as it was over the regular semesters and after a scholarship I still have a balance of $1,270. 

I am currently facing a hold on my student account and not being able to continue my summer courses or attend in the fall due to this overdue balance. 

I would really hate something like this to come in the way of me finally pursuing my dream of becoming a psychiatric nurse. Anything at all will help and be greatly appreciated! Hopefully one day I'll be able to "pay it forward" :) 

Set-backs I didn't share in gofundme post: --my dad died 2 weeks after my 18th birthday --mom had alcohol/drug issues while I was growing up --in an abusive/controlling marriage from 19 years old until I was 26. --this is actually my fourth attempt at attending college and the furthest I've ever made it.

Good news! --I just finished my first year of nursing school --I recently started an "as needed" mental health technician position with children and adolescents to get some psych experience. I really like it so far. --I'm engaged to a wonderful man and we're getting married this October. I wouldn't have made it this far without him. ❤
