I never in my life thought I would be doing this. I don't make a lot of money but I'm very fortunate in the fact that I am still working and have generally been able to at least pay my bills and take care of my animals. My hours are cut at work right now so it's definitely been tight but I am still grateful to have my job because I know many people are struggling worse than I am right now. I've had my dog Jude since he was a puppy. It started with a trip to an emergency vet, multiple regular vet visits, and then he was hospitalized at the university vet in my state mid December because of bleeding in his eye and a really bad inflammatory response to something. He had extensive bloodwork and multiple detailed scans to rule out cancer and anything else. They were convinced it was a tick borne disease and high blood pressure. He was improving and stable and sent home but we later got the results of the tick panel and he was negative for everything. He was doing much better though.

Fast forward to Tuesday and he is there again. He had bleeding in his mouth and nose that wouldn't stop and he was declining again. He was also bleeding in his GI tract. Normally dogs have platelets over 300k and his were below 4k. It is a suspected immune disorder. He has needed a transfusion since he has been there. He's on immune suppressing drugs and a chemo drug to try to get his bone marrow making more platelets as well as something to help with his gi tract. These can take several days to improve on so it's a waiting game. His nose and mouth have stopped bleeding and we have to see if the bleeding in his GI tract is from earlier and is improving or not. As long as he doesn't bleed in his brain or lungs (unlikely considering his other bleeding is stopped or slowing) and can get his platelets up, he has a good chance. Besides right before when he needed a transfusion, he has been seeming alright given the circumstances. Today he has been having really bad stomach issues from the chemo drug and bleeding so tonight they administered an iv antibiotic to prevent bacteria in there and another immune suppressant to try to get his platelets up. They say that most dogs do end up making it, it's just about what people can afford honestly as it does sometimes take a while for them to improve.

The last vet bill from the university hospital was 3800 which my amazing parents were able to help with and charge but they're in a bad spot right now too and maxing out with what they can help with. The estimate right now is 3-5k but they did say it could be more depending on whether or not he responds quickly. I don't want the only reason he doesn't get to make it to be because I couldn't afford it. I live alone. I don't have a lot of friends. This dog is literally everything to me. I know he's not going to live forever. I just know that this is too soon for me to give up on him. If you can help, I will be more grateful than you could ever imagine. If you can't (I know so many are struggling right now) and just want to send good thoughts my way that is appreciated just as much. If you guys want any more info please feel free to ask.

Edit: THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone that has helped out so far. I still have a ways to go for funding but I've found a few items I can sell, and was able to get approved for some care credit if i don't manage to come up with the rest (last resort as hours are cut and don't have anything after bills for a monthly payment right now but ill do what i have to for my good boy). I am so beyond greatful at the kindness of my fellow redditors that I could honestly cry. For all of your assistance, tips, links, info, and just well wishes i can't thank you all enough. I've been posting updates on the gofundme. Jude is improving and finally out of the ICU and in intermediate care and may be able to go home at some point next week if he keeps improving at this rate! I am so happy right now and just can't wait for him to be home. Thank you all again. You're all such amazing people.
