Cole has been chosen as one of 11 people to represent New Zealand Football in the Special Olympics in Berlin. The amount of $18,600 NZD has been quoted to his family by Special Olympics New Zealand, but unfortunately is not a sum that is hanging around. This cost includes transportation, accommodation, special care services and food.
Cole has had a hard start to life and sent his first 9 years trying to find his calling. When Cole first came into foster care he was introduced to sports and it became clear immediately that he had finally found fulfilment in both the sport, and being able to achieve something on his own.
At 10, Cole began playing soccer with his foster brother and he flourished as a person. This became his passion, and apart from poor eyesight holding him back from success as goal keeper, he enjoyed all positions.
When Cole heard that he has been selected for Berlin he was esctatic. His limited ability to understand the value of money means that we are his team of fundraisers. We will be very grateful for every dollar raised to help Cole fulfil a dream that he still finds hard to believe is possible.
