Buy a stock in apple for 50 dollars, and it goes up to 100. When you sell it, you'll get 51 dollars for selling it. It also works in reverse. You lose money if the stock goes down and you sell it.)

If you bundle things together, you have to sell all of it together to get back a dollar.

You can still make money off of things you buy, such as renting a house or getting money back from investing.

You can pay for things at an intended rate (E.G. donating 1 billion USD to a charity)

If you buy something and gift it to someone (also if you pass away and it goes to whoever you will it to) they can sell it for the full amount.
