Noob question. How little can I get away with to keep healthy goats.

Post Body

I have plenty of land for them to graze (pastures and woods). I need to fence them in obviously. But then what else do they need for basic healthy lives.

I'm looking to raise for meat and sell them at 2-3 year mark.

Do they need shelter beyond the forest trees? Do they need dedicated water sources? Do they need supplemented food beyond pasture grasses and forest graze? Do I need to build a special barn?

Edit: Appreciate the replies. I thought goats would be easier than cows, but now I know better 😅
