I have myopia and astigmatism, been wearing glasses since I was 10 yo. I'm in my early 40s and recently found I needed a bit of help with close viewing, I'm developing presbyopia.
Prescription:
- OD: Sphere -4.5, Cyl -1.0, Axis 075, Near add 1.25
- OS: Sphere -6.25, Cyl -1.0, Axis 180, Near add 1.25
I tried progressive lenses, but even with the premium lens with the widest corridor I couldn't deal with it. I work in IT and often spend up to 10 or more hours a day at a PC monitor. Also, the reading/add section just didn't work, it was too small to the point text would fuzz at the edges of a page if I was looking at the center of a page in a novel.
I switched back to single vision lenses, but got a second pair of "office" lenses for near/medium viewing. Not sure what brand, I think it's Zeiss. The focus range is 7 feet.
I'm loving the office lenses, the zoom is great, corridor is wide, I can read comfortably again.... they're awesome. But I'm noticing eye strain, like when I switch back to the single vision lenses it's like my eyes breathe a sigh of relief. Like the office lenses are making my eyes feel tired. I literally feel my eyeballs relaxing when I switch to the single vision (but then I can't focus on anything inside of maybe 2 feet with them).
Is this just adjustment period? I only got them a day ago, though I was wearing the progressives for a month, and there was practically zero adjustment period I could tell, my vision in them was immediately fine. Will this get better over time? And does switching between single vision and office lenses cause eye strain?
Also, any tips for getting used to juggling multiple pairs of glasses? It's new to me, so I'm not sure when I should be switching. Most things in my house are "close enough" so I've mostly just been wearing the office lenses, especially since I'm at the PC a lot.
