I've seen a lot of post going both ways on this subject and wanted to offer my opinion which is stated above. I think it's acceptable for the show to have been a pre-recorded live performance but I think it's unacceptable to not have been marketed as such.

Whether you are or are not happy with it being pre-recorded, the fact of the matter is, they likely would not have sold nearly as many "tickets" as they did had they not marketed it as a real-time live performance. I think it's an entirely shady practice that shouldn't be supported, especially during a time when people have been waiting months on end for merch they have bought and paid for with little to no correspondence about the status of. Covid is not a blanket excuse to practice shady business.

I love Glass Animals and have been a fan since the beginning, and am still a fan. I enjoyed the show for what it was. I've supported them by going to shows, purchasing each of their records on vinyl among other merch and will continue to do so. I'm sure they poured their heart and soul into that performance and it showed during it. Whether they were involved in the decision to market it to make it seem as if it was a real-time performance or if it was entirely up to labels/publishers/promoters/etc. is beside the point. You were lied to and companies made money off of the lie they told you and that should be zero tolerance. That's not even considering the product that was advertised failed halfway through.

Again, It's okay to be upset and still like the band, I'm sure they tried hard to deliver a product that was up to their standards and I'm all for being considerate during these rough times, at least they tried to give us something. But I think being too understanding is to be taken advantage of. Maybe I'm being a bit too crabby but that's just my two cents.
