Can you become an analyst before working as a technician?
Post Body

I am currently doing an internship at a water/waste utilities place in my college town. After graduation I am planning on trying to find an entry level job in my area or possibly moving out of state (which isn’t a problem for me). I know many people who enter a GIS field start with becoming a technician (which I am learning is a lot of imputing data and less exciting stuff). It would be nice to start working as an analyst after college but I am not sure how realistic that would be, especially since the many GIS jobs require a lot of experience.

I would have 6 months of experience from this internship as well as a Geospatial Information Science Major with a minor in Computer Science (which would help with things like learning programming tools like python or C ).
