Geopandas 101

I’ve done quite a substantial bit of Python development and custom tool making using arcpy, and I’m looking to start automating workflows and do data manipulation with geopandas.
That being said, I have yet to figure out how to use it within an ESRI environment. I am also unsure how to reference feature classes within an anaconda environment. I know where to find the getting started documentation but nothing has answered my questions thus far. Can anyone give me some pointers or a 101 here?
