I’m following the recipe for the alcoholic ginger beer that’s on this Reddit; the mountianfeed one. My ginger bug is five days old. It is definitely fizzling but not as much as some of the gifs I’ve seen posted here. I think I’m going to try a test batch tonight. My question for you is, can we brew ginger beer just fine in plastic bottles? Even water bottles? My house is FULL of water bottles since we can’t drink the tap and I don’t usually drink soda. I live in a country where the pressure gauges and brewing stuff is hard to get (middle east). I have been looking for fliptop bottles but the ones that I’ve seen in the store are decorative and painted. I’m considering ordering the flip tops from IKEA, does anyone know if those are strong enough?
Furthermore, are the bottles purely for aesthetic purposes or will using plastic affect the taste of my brew? Do I need to burp a plastic bottle?
Thanks for taking the time to read this!!
