aorus a520 q flash plus not working

fresh out of the box psu and motherboard, only the 24 pin and 8 pin power connectors plugged in and the drive is in the usb port with “bios” above it (and the manual confirms this is the port for q flash plus) and when the drive is inserted and i press the q glad plus button… nothing happens. ever.. i’ve tried it a few times now and i’m sure the board is getting power because some leds flash briefly in the logo when i turn on the psu. pls someone help
