As someone one who was not around for the 80s Ghostbusters hype, I grew up with easy access to both the first and second movie.
While I do think the original is better, I find myself enjoying watching GB2 more. While it was critically more panned and slowed the Ghostbusters hype into the 90s, in more recent years many people seem to have come around on it and share my sentiment.
I would like to hear yall’s thoughts on why the public opinion has shifted.
I personally think that because of the five year period between, expectations were higher and not met leading to its mixed reception. But with easier and immediate access in modern times, the second has less “hype” and therefore judged less harshly similarly to the Star Wars prequels.
What do yall think?
It’s not the classic that the original is but I’ve always enjoyed it and watch it every New Year’s Eve. I even own a GB2 t-shirt that I wore to see Afterlife as well as the Game Boy and NES (New GB2) games
