Ok all my clampers are going to hate this post but it is what it is. But this is also why things like noose extenders are so harmful as well.
So i've been trying to do some research into potential nerve effects of clamping. Part of this exploration comes from posts like This. So in my research I came across some very interesting papers which I'll share with you all, as well as some of the conclusions Ive made from them.
Clamping is essentially based on putting enough circumferential pressure on the base of the penis to obstruct venous output, forcing the penis to over engorge and ultimately force penile enlargement.
My concern is that the dorsal nerve of the penis runs superficially along the dorsal surface of the penis. Here is the actual nerve dissected in cadavers so you can see for yourself HERE01176-X/fulltext). That's an excellent paper BTW. Knowing how superficial the nerve is led to my concern about nerve damage from certain PE activities like directly placing a clamp around the penis, and what that pressure might do to that nerve. (Also something foolish like "striking" the penis to try to spur growth).
The exact pressure of clamping is near impossible to guess. But what we do know is that the clamp must be tight enough to obstruct venous flow. Well to get a ROUGH ESTIMATE of what this might be I looked at THIS paper on tourniquet pressure needed to obstruct blood flow and distend the veins for blood draws. Turns out that pressure is somewhere between ideally 60-80mmHg. So I think its safe to conclude at least this much pressure is being used when clamping. Sometimes clearly more as seen with discoloration and petechiae formation.
I then tried to figure out what could be complications of exerting pressures that high on nerve function. Well, This paper explored what pressures on nerves are needed to cause damage. It turns out that at 80mmHG (10kpa) "all intraneural blood flow ceases...Therefore cell nutrition and the intraneuronal communication system will be compromised at elevated extraneural pressure." In this same paper when looking at the nerves in carpal tunnel syndrome they found that nerve dysfunction can occur at 50mmHG or (6.7kPa). The paper goes on to report different nerve damage that can occur with different prolonged durations of pressure and with increasing pressure. Really an interesting read.
So based on these papers, the pressure needed to halt venous backflow, is also more than enough to negatively affect nerve communication and increase the risk of nerve damage.
Think about this. Have you ever folded your leg up on your knee and had your foot go to sleep? That's from pressure on the nerve preventing the appropriate signalling pathways Source
All that being said, MOST guys ARE NOT having numbness in their dicks with clamping. But some are, especially those clamping too tightly. And honestly the more I research into the more I PERSONALLY THINK (AS IN MY OPINION) that clamping isn't a good idea. This just gives me more background as to why and the potential hazards.
Plenty of guys have been clamping for years with no issues. Unfortunately I wasn't one of those lucky guys. I also think for the most part, clamping is not a high rate of nerve damage. That being said THIS IS ALSO WHY I HATE NOOSE EXTENDERS That prolonged pressure of the distal branches of the dorsal nerve of the penis for hours at a time ABSOLUTELY can cause nerve damage. Fortunately most clamping sets are around 5 minutes so I think that's why nerve damage rates arent higher.
Anyways, Just sharing what i'm researching. Do your own research, form your own conclusions. It's your dick, do what you want with it. This is just my personal research and my personal conclusions based on the studies I've found.
I'm sure all the pro clampers are going to be coming for my neck with this one, just have a cogent, fact based argument is all I ask. Oh and if you have to make a burner account to leave a comment and then upvote your own posts, You are a coward.
Hink
Did you do that like the way BD recommends? The shaft focused method ?
What’s your recommended time for each set for pumping ?

So the oval shape of the clamp, do you have it vertically oriented on the penis ?
