[NeedAdvice] How do you get rid of the feeling of expectation that comes from having a routine?

So here's my problem.

I have a great routine, that works well in terms of fulfilling my needs for the day.

The problem is that over time, the routine becomes a matter of expectation, instead of purpose. The mere thought of feeling like I need to do something, turns into stress. Which then snowballs, until I hit a breaking point.

I guess my question is, how can you both have a routine, without feeling the expectation that you must follow that routine?

The moment it becomes expectation, it just ends up stressing me out.
