I'll be the first to admit: I mis-understood the concept of "working smart".
For years, I took the "4-hour workweek" idea as an actual goal.
I've found that work isn't necessarily evil.
Work can be fun!
I've found that if you're working on a result that resonates with you, if you're doing your "thing" (whatever that is) there simply isn't enough time!
But wait!
Instead of stewing over what is "supposed to be your thing", a quick "hack" I've learned is to:
Simply invest MORE TIME into what you're currently working on.
There are some opportunities you will only find when you are actually out there in the trenches.
Not every opportunity will be neatly presented to you in a 5-step YouTube video.
And some vital relationships will only be built when you are actually in the fray doing seemingly "boring" tasks
I used to marvel at the seemingly herculean work ethic of people like Elon Musk and other high performers. Now I think I know their true "secret".
So please consider working longer than you used to; it may be the smarter way to work.
