How does one stay energized throughout the day to accomplish everything one wants to do?
In a day, I want to:
Sleep 8 hrs
Go to the gym for 1 hour
Do homework/study
Go to Class
Practice Guitar
Draw a bit
Read books
Thanks to the people here who helped me organize my day, I found out that I DO have time to do these things. The problem I ran into this week was lack of energy to do the things. I realize that maybe it might be overload, BUT if I can do everything on this list I know that my life will be where I want it to be in a few months.
I thought of prioritizing as a means of getting things done and the order of tasks I set for myself looked like this (emphasis on the top 3)
Sleep
Gym
Class/homework/study
then the other things following (time permitting). The result was this: After waking up refreshed, I'd go to the gym and get a good workout, eat then go to class and proceed to have the rest of my day drained out of me from class lectures, note taking, and studying material less interesting than blank paper. This made it so that I didn't draw or play guitar for a whole week as I wouldn't have time to put them first when I had so many important things I needed to do and IF I did have time, I was worn out and would rather sleep.
I tried to focus more on the things I love so I set my priorities like this:
Drawing
Reading books
Homework/study/class
Sleep
This schedule lead me to doing the things I wanted to do, but lack of adequate sleep kept me from going to the gym, being energetic in class and pounding my homework with the intensity of 1000 suns as I had to stay up with coffee to finish my assignments up till 3 am, then get up by 7 to get ready for class.
Currently, I am reading books in my classes or doing homework so that when I get back to my room I can listen to the lectures at 2x speed and annotate the notes they've given us. I'm thinking of not going to classes (where attendance isn't taken) so that I can study more efficiently on my own and just listen to the recorded lectures. This will allow me to wake up later, but still finish studying by the time the class gets out, or longer if I don't understand the material.
With these methods being tried, my next step is to learn and incorporate the art of napping into my day or buy better tasting coffee mix so I'll always have coffee at my disposal (or get some red bull).
To /r/getdisciplined I ask again, how does one stay energized throughout their day?
