Hey I'm not from Germany but the Berlin wall fits thematically in the story I'm writing (though it's more background context than anything). I'm not German so I'm naïve on certain specifics.

The family is large, wealthy (at least wealthier than the average citizen), and not necessarily likable.

1) What would a wealthy family be like in West Germany? East Germany?

I'm guessing it'd make more sense for the wealthy family to be West Germany since East was communist but I'm wondering if there was still a class divide that could be interesting to explore.

2) What would the political leanings of the family be? What would they likely believe? Could cover certain age groups but doesn't have to.

3) What would their wealth likely be attributed to? Again, covering both West/East.

I don't need anything too thorough, but any details that you guys would think is helpful would be wonderful!
