Hey there r/Germany.
I need some advice. I came here from Canada and live with my gf (who is German). After falling in love with your country and my lady, I decided to stay and try to make a go of it here even though I don't know German, I am learning.
I went online to toytown and got a job interview with a call centre in Munich who were very nice and decided they would sponsor me for the residency permit I would need to live/work for in your fine country. So, I filled out the paperwork, was told it would be two weeks and then informed my employer who said it would be all good.
Two weeks later (a week ago) I get my permit and inform them I am ready to start any time! I was pretty excited cause I've worked in call centres before in Canada, but this seemed like a really nice place and everyone was awesome. However, I get no response until today saying that they no longer need me because the client I would be working for decided they only wanted one person, not 3. So the call centre emailed me and said I would no longer be needed because of the client not needed as many people anymore. I didn't sign any paperwork they gave me cause it was needed for the application. They did offer me a gift card as compensation for traveling with them for a day I had to meet a client in Frankfurt, which is cool I guess.
I'm not mad, just sad really. :( I will keep trying to find a job and worst case scenario, I am a Blues guitarist so I guess I could apply for a residency permit as self employed?
I am not sure what to do. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
TL;DR: Canadian needs permit/career advice from you amazing people
