Post Body

Hello, I lost my job in end of February this year because my company was shut down for financial reasons. I was looking for a job since then and I started a new job in middle of June, so I was unemployed from beginning of March to mid June for a period of 3 months and a half.

I am registered with Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) for health insurance, my previous employer notified TK that my contract has come to an end, I have also notified TK and specified that I was living on my savings. I got a letter today from TK and I have to pay a total of 804€ for the period of unemployment and I have to pay that by the end of the month.

I want to ask is it normal to pay that much money even though I was not working, had no income and was living on my savings? Is there a way I can reduce that sum and pay less? I was burning my savings for more than 3 months and was waiting to get a salary again and now I have to pay that much. During the period of unemployment I didn't visit a doctor or needed any health assistance. Thanks
