I just remembered this happened and was randomly curious about it. I was in Frankfurt Germany during New Years and was along the river during the fireworks. It was super fun and the celebration was way better than anything I’ve ever seen in America. However, during the festivities I noticed people firing handguns into the air. The police didn’t seem to care despite lots of people being frightened and moving away from the groups doing it. From my understanding, gun ownership is generally uncommon in Germany. Is this a normal occurrence? Do the police typically not care about that kind of stuff? Thank you!
