How much is my landlord liable for basement water damage?
Post Body

Hi all,

I live in Berlin and a basement storage space is included with my apartment. Recently the basement suffered water damage. Luckily, my husband and I don't have much of value down there. Nonetheless, our landlord agreed to cover costs of what was damaged. He also gave us a new space in a dryer, higher elevated part of the basement.

My question is, is there more I can/should expect? For example, can I ask for a temporary reduction in rent? Sounds like he's stepping up here, but i just want to know what else he's liable for in this case, if anything.

I had another quick look over my rental contract, and didn't see anything in there about the basement.

Thanks, all!
